Fiveways Project

I am a photographer with a particular love of portraiture.

A lot of my work is concerned with portraiture and even when I photograph objects I often treat them the same way I would treat a person and take a ‘portrait’ of the object.

The project is intended to be a portrait not just of individuals but also a snapshot of Fiveways itself.

I really value the sense of community we have in this area and as a Brightonian I enjoy the sense of continuity I have experienced moving back here to raise my family. My children spend their pocket money in the same bakery I used to go to as a kid. At the same time it is great to see new places opening up and to feel the area flourishing.

To tie in with the exhibition I am also producing a book of images as part of the first ever International SoFoBoMo (Solo Photo Book Month). This event requires photographers to shoot and produce a book in just one month. This has been quite a challenge as I usually prefer to spend months on a project but the speed and excitement have carried me through.

It is my hope that my love of portraiture and of the area where I live have enabled me to produce a worthwhile piece of work.
